Two Poems from our Summer Poetry Collection

AFTER A SUMMER'S RAINFALL

Author: Chenglin Yuan

Poem:
AFTER A SUMMER'S RAINFALL

The earth was covered by a layer of mist
Dewdrops here and there kissed
The grass, flowers and trees
As the sky effused a faint breeze
That sent the boughs of a willow
Swaying as it broke the surface of the water

It was tranquil and quiet all around
The woods smelled fresh and clean
The sky was the color of aquamarine
Occasionally, a few chirps floated into the air
And not the tiniest noise could you hear
After a summer’s rainfall

TORNADOES OF TERROR'S FURY

Author: Matthew Harding

Poem: TORNADOES OF TERROR'S FURY

Tornadoes sounds like a
Terror creeping up the road
Of life and dreams
Going to eat all the eyes
Of humankind!

Tornadoes are a
Black hole
Pulling all in a fight
To escape this evil sight
With no hope with escape!

Tornadoes trill with our
Shouts and Screams
All under this scene
Lighting, THUNDER
Rain falling.

Tornadoes are a
Fearsome sight
Winds howling
Like a
Animal with pain.

Tornadoes leave with a
Bang a final rope
Is all that’s left
But, with us.
We can’t forget.

Tornadoes leave us with
A mess of
LIFE, that we
Must clean
OURSLEVES!!

Tornadoes are fearful?
Yes,
But, we humans can
Attest, that we can
Survive, with compassion in our
Hearts we can,
Rebuild our homes and finally
Our Lives.
