Two Poems from our Teen Poetry Collection

"YOU AND I"

Author: John Waller

Poem:
"YOU AND I"

I've opened my heart to you,
and let my emotions run free.
You make me smile, you make me laugh
You've gotten the best of me.

I think I know what love is,
and I know you are the one,
I think im truly in love with you,
and we've only just begun.

Some nights I would lay and dream,
dream of holding you tight.
You are to me the only one,
my shining star my light.

Than somewhere in my mind,
A little voice would say,
"Shes the one, shes so right,
this is the only way."

I tried to block these voices out,
although its words were true.
I just could'nt help myself,
I know I really love you.

Eventually my mind went quiet,
and I heard my heart loud and clear,
The love I have for you is real
My heart I could finally hear.

I see now that my heart is right,
I know we will make it through
Although its hard,we're stronger now,
And its all because of You.

WALK

Author: Kayla Storch

Poem: WALK

Walk
I took a walk today.
I walked until the sound of voices faded
I walked until the street cars were but a memory
I walked until i could no longer see the town overrun with house.
The brisk air in my lungs.
The birds song in my ear.
I walked until the modern world died
I walked until my thoughts crept in
I walked until my worries drown.
Nature became a part of me
My ambitions became deeper.
I walked until my dreams came true
I walked until the sun went to rest
I walked until nothing mattered anymore.
I took a walk today.'I took a walk away from life.
