Two Poems from our Tributes, Memorials Poetry Collection

RED LIGHT

Author: Daniel Rajala

Poem:
RED LIGHT

There is a time in the
Night when everything
Comes to a stop and
There is no movement
A long necked water
Tap; a lid balanced on
Top of a plastic container
A big Chinese bowl
Resting in a frying pan
Coffee pot and toaster
There is a red light
Filling the bottom of
The windows of the
Hotel across the street
Late on a Friday night
Like the blood in a syringe
Such a fine, thin line
Which separates fantasy
From the rest of reality
Robbie Burns ballads
Bouncing from the one
Snow covered mountain
Top to the next and
Ferries traveling across
Tow peninsulas going north
Cutting through frigid air
Romantics on the road
Making the night their bed
And poets who refuse to die.

Hello again

Author: Christina Dee

Poem: Hello again

I SWIM IN THE COLD WORLD OF ACCIDENTS AND VICTIMS. A
TIRED PERSON CAUTIONS THE POWER OF LIFE AS YOU SIT IN
A CLUB SMOKING CIGARETTES AND YOU SEE THE NEXT
GENERATION RISE ABOVE YOU. YOU ARE NO LONGER NEEDED.
YOU ARE TAMED LIKE THE SOUL OF A CIRCUS TIGER. THE
PUBLICITY IS GETTING TO BE TOO MUCH. YOU NEED PATIENCE
AFTER YOU OPENED ALL THE DOORS IN MY LIFE. THE DEBRIS
IS LEFT BEHIND WHILE YOU LEAVE THROUGH THE OPEN
WINDOW.
GOOD-BYE YOU SAY
YOU LEAVE WITH THE SOUND OF A MOVIE PLAYING IN THE
BACKROUND. IT'S A MIRACLE AS YOU OPEN YOUR EYES AND I
GREET YOU WITH HOPE AND HAPPINESS.
HELLO I SAY AGAIN.
