Two Poems from our Tributes, Memorials Poetry Collection

Undying breath

Author: Samantha Berry

Poem:
Undying breath

In my dreams a tiny bird flies high
Miniature wings grazing the endless blue sky
Within my dreams I feel so small within my angel child's eyes
Looking across the pillowy softness of a cloud,
thinking life here is too blissful to be allowed.

Singing songs, I skip from rainbow to rainbow
Watching angels scattered within the satinyclouds And I know as soon as I'm able, my dreams will fly past

Along with a whirlwind of sorrows and doubts
I kiss good-bye to my angel wings
Tumbling down within a tunnel of sounds
I reach out a shaking hand
To touch the sorrows as they drive me within

Twisting and turning in a soundless scream
this is not at all what it had seemed
My mind reels and my lungs seem to sing
A ray of light glints upon my wedding ring
My lungs still scream for air they want
As I slowly drift into darkness into
My undying breath

WORDS ESCAPE ME

Author: Alea Candela

Poem: WORDS ESCAPE ME

...to express how much I miss you.
I've lost count of the days since I began to miss you.
Was it yesterday or was it many yesterdays ago?
I remember the innocence of your wonderment
of the world around you, as you let go
of the strong hand that was hesitant in the fulfillment
of your excitement to explore, discover and touch
your world, your hopes, your aspirations and your dreams.
I remember the warmth of your soft touch
as you once again held my hand and smiled bright as a moonbeam.
I remember the music in my ears of your laughter.
Oh, how yesterday seems like a lifetime ago,
a lifetime of missing your splendor.
Today, I shall remember the blessing given me long ago,
when God bestowed upon me the blessings of you.
Tomorrow is yet another day to enjoy the memories
and be thankful for the times I shared with you.
Although yesterday is gone, I have today to create new memories
that I shall cherish and enjoy tomorrow.
Thank you for yesterday, today and tomorrow.
I shall cherish the memories forever and ever.
