Two Poems from our Tributes, Memorials Poetry Collection

untitled

Author: Kristen Burgess

Poem:
untitled

She tantalizes age with her eternal beauty.
She shields herself from death with a love for life.
She is the essence of a woman;
an artist, a painter, a writer.
On to her canvas she pours her passion
and shares her visions with the world.
With her pen she tells of a leaf's journey
from withering branch to stream,
where it fashioned its very own ripple,
and floated through the harsh waters
to find a bank to settle upon, as did she.
For she is a wife now, and a mother
dreaming only of what she has;
a loving husband and two sons.
Beclouded she is, in riches.
But underneath lies a soul exceeding the value of money.
Though higher in society
than the sun is in the sky
She walks not with haughtiness; but humbleness
and arms benevolently extended to those less graceful.

UNTITLED

Author: Michelle Tran

Poem: UNTITLED

wipe the tears away little girl
there's no point in crying
do you feel as in the pain fades?
I've been you once..
I know it's not true,
so while you are sobbing your eyes out..
as your little heart lies broken,
do you feel better?
I didn't..
when my life was torn apart,
and all I had were tears,
they didn't wash my bloodstained hands..
they didn't clean my dirty face..
do you know?
wipe away those tears little girl...
they're useless in the real world.
there is no refuge.
no safe place..that's all a lie.
don't believe..don't trust.
don't need, don't want.
you're on your own little girl.
learn to dry your eyes.
I've been you once,
I know.
