Two Poems from our Tributes, Memorials Poetry Collection

Life's Song

Author: Abigail Wyckoff

Poem:
Life's Song

  Trembling as I speak
I'm becomming so damn weak
Fear consumes my soul
Now I know you're gone,
Never to return.
Take this emptiness away from me
When I say "Rest In Peace"
As the casket is lowered down
My mouth is wide open
Still trying to figure out what happened
All these thoughts running through my head,
Now you're dead,
So am I.
They're making me be strong,
Going through this battle alone,
On my own,
Tell me a lullaby,
They say that is going to be okay,
You're in a better place,
I heard all the cliches,
They're not going to put my restless soul at ease.
I'm just numb,
and that's all I am
Tears flood my eyes,
I can't hide all these feelings inside,
I'm breaking down.
I'm changing, with all this pain.
I'm not the same.

Just Another Sunny Day

Author: Marissa Turner

Poem: Just Another Sunny Day

It was just another sunny day
Bright but cold outside,
As they stepped into the car
To take a fun filled ride.

They were just another group of teens
Looking for some fun
Even though they had no clue
That life had just begun

They piled into the car with a couple more
Anxious, ready for the ride
They turned the music up
And began singing side by side

Down the highway way too fast
Was that little car,
Now shattered into pieces
Bodies thrown afar

This little car, stained with blood,
Smashed in different parts.
When the parents saw this car,
It tore apart their hearts.

The lives of four now taken
They will be no more
16, 17, 17, 18
What did God want them for?

They were just another group of teens
Looking for some fun
Even though they had no clue
That death was what they’ve won

My brother is now with God
Apart from me he is
Taken away from me
Why didn’t you take my life for his?

On just another sunny day
Bright but cold outside,
As they stepped into the car
To take a fun filled ride.
