KEEPING THE DREAM ALIVE

Author: Maryssa Alexander

Poem:
KEEPING THE DREAM ALIVE

Millions of eyes watching as you speak your peace
Asking the world if it's fate or defeat
Our lives are in shambles and there is nothing we can do
Everyone has a dream, but their dreams may not be fulfilled or lived up to
It's time for a change let our voices be heard
For everyone speaking negative spread the word
Let freedom ring as said by the King
Lets argue for what's ours and what freedom brings
Lets set our minds to nothing but success
Lets put all of our challenges to the test
Lets spread our joy and express all feelings inside
Letting freedom ring keeping the dream alive

TO RISE

Author: Donald Milhouse

Poem: TO RISE

As the whole of all that we are,
in the midst of all that we have become,
there is a light that shines upon us.
It is a beacon which resonates from a cloud of dust, and it is this light that has shown the world the resolve of this great nation.
There is a new America, one that is unified with a great strength, a strength that lies not within our wealth, but within our hearts. One that has shown that "We Are Our Brother's Keeper." Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for a friend.
It is that spirit which has brought this great nation together. Out of the ashes of despair we truly have become united. In the face of hate and uncertainty, God has given us strength. In our greatest hour of despair, He has given us the ability...

To Rise.

God Bless America
