Two Poems from our Tributes, Memorials Poetry Collection

UNTITLED

Author: Jade Millerd

Poem:
UNTITLED

  She wasn't the only one
The one that was insecure
She let herself be taken
Taken into the dark, unfeeling abyss
The 'wrong' side.

But who are we
To decide what's wrong?
And what's right?
We are just the by-standers
In this great plight
Plight for power
Plight for chaos
Plight for hate.

Left to her thoughts
They drive her mad
She's practically split in two
She hates this
It's horrible and unfair
She hates the people she loves
And loves the people she hates.

She has done terrible things
She murdered, she slaughtered
Yet, she has no regrets.

She has no control now
Simple as that
She got so lost she's never coming back
She's shaking all over
Can't she see
She thinks she has lost
She thinks she is gone
She believes it
So it is.

She's gone, never coming back
Alone
Forever more
But throughout it all
She was a true friend.

TSUNAMI AND A NEW BEGINNING

Author: Arthy Balakrishnan

Poem: TSUNAMI AND A NEW BEGINNING

The day was another Sunday
“A” day in the week to relax
The “sea” looked calm
Everything was usual
Or so we thought…

At one point of time
No on knew what was happening
The sea receded a long distance first
And soon after, huge columns of water
Beat against the shores
With massive force and might
That the bare truth of the scene
Hit me on the face.

It was as though hell had broken lose
Hundreds of people, ashore – unaware
Were caught in the waves
Those waves responsible for
Destruction, demolition, and death.

It was as though a fierce war was being fought
Between nature’s fury and
Thousands of ‘Unarmed’ People.

Water, Water everywhere
Onto the roads, into the buildings
Into the huts and houses and shops
Obliterating “Anything” and “Everything”
Within its reach

The sight was pitiable
The loss unaccountable for
Precious human life had been lost
Many houses reduced
To nothing “less” than ruins.
Lives disrupted forever.

However,
Hope is never lost
Faith remains
And belief overcomes any crisis
Let us hold hands and help
Towards making this disaster
One valid reason for a fresh new start!!!
