Two Poems from our Tributes, Memorials Poetry Collection

YESTERDAY

Author: Sibongile Shezi

Poem:
YESTERDAY

  When lights were still on
And life was a pond
When our teeth were always sharpened
And for a reason things happened
Yesterday

When our way was celebration
And life and death were in collaboration
When kisses were greetings
And hugs made the hearts’ beatings
Yesterday

Today the lights are off
And life is tough
Today we are always hungry
And things happens for a mockery
Too different from the previous day
Yesterday

Today our way is no celebration
For death is the only domination
Today kisses symbolizes commitments
Hugs are steps to marriages of the tots
Things will never be the same as
Yesterday

THE UNKNOWN

Author: Shawna Henry

Poem: THE UNKNOWN

Feeling's so deep.
Feeling's of love.
Feeling's from my heart.
Feeling's from above.
If I had only known, what was in store.
I could have prepared myself,
I would have told her more.
See, I loved this girl, with all of my heart.
She was my best friend, we were to never part.
I thought of her daily, my soul needed her near.
I ached for her affection, she was, to me, so dear.
Now I'm truly sad, my heart was broken.
What I felt for her, is now kept as a token.
My soul feels empty, I now have to cry.
I lost her completely, the night she had to die.
I'll remember her always; my love for her will
stay.
And though my life goes on, I'll think of her
each day.
I know I shouldn't worry, I'll know where she
has been.
And when God calls for me, we'll be togehter
again.
