Two Poems from our Tributes, Memorials Poetry Collection

FOR MY MOM

Author: Debbie Escaip

Poem:
FOR MY MOM

  THEY SAY MEMORIES ARE FOREVER
WELL MAYBE THAT IS TRUE
BUT I NEVER WANTED MEMORIES
I ONLY WANTED YOU

COUNTLESS TIMES I'VE NEEDED YOU
COUNTLESS TIMES I'VE CRIED
IF MY LOVE FOR YOU HAD BEEN ENOUGH
YOU NEVER WOULD HAVE DIED

IN LIFE I LOVED YOU DEEPLY
IN DEATH I LOVE YOU STILL
IN MY HEART YOU HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE
NO ONE WILL EVER FILL

I miss you mom

TROUBLED WATERS

Author: Srinivasa Moorthy

Poem: TROUBLED WATERS

For aeons of time unknown
You were the bystander, alone
With umpteen creatures, extinct
You had a rapport, distinct

Possessing terra's lion's share
Nurturing us, love and care
Human lives at your shore
Reaping from what you bear

Altruistic and always deary
Why this abrupt act of fury?
Bounteous an asset,
Why on earth you beset?

Wuthering waves,
Withering lives,
Gushing storms,
Effacing homes

Truly...
Time and tide
Waited for none

Bereaved of belongings,
Deprived of dear ones
Even our kids,
For no misdeeds

In pain and strain,
We mourn in vain
Of hue and cry,
Our eyes are dry

Generous, like an ocean
We will teach never
Vibrant, like a wave
Will we preach ever?

Oh God!
Is this earth or earthly hell?
Where else can we all dwell?
Why this wrath wrought on us?
On whom lies the whole onus?

May divine love fill our hearts,
The only cure for all hurts
We all pray as craving souls,
For your grace surely heals
