HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

Author: Samantha Gifford

Poem:
HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

  I can't be here forever
I have to move on someday
I'll never forget the times we shared
The bad times and the good times
The crying and the laughing
They're all there
Stored in the back of my mind

I'm sorry but I have to leave
Lets get one thing straight
You will always be there to me
Wherever I go you will always be with me
You'd have to have said your goodbyes by the end of the day
Because I'll be gone tomorrow
And I'm never coming back

I've moved on to better places
With no way of getting back to you
I hope you remember me
And wish I was here today

I am gone now
And remembering you everyday
I'm getting on, with my new life
And I hope you can move on too.

SHE IS THE ONE WOMAN CIRCUS

Author: Kelly Hoyer

Poem: SHE IS THE ONE WOMAN CIRCUS

She is the one woman circus.
Watch her astound and impress
all the guests, husband, children,
costumed in a simple blue dress.

Let her bedazzle and thrill you,
equipped with a pot and pan,
boiling water on stovetop,
a spatula gripped in one hand,

Gliding from cupboard to cupboard,
her youngest teetering on hip,
she pours out the oatmeal,
serves tea without even a drip.

Close your eyes, you faint-hearted.
This is not for the dainty.
Now watch close and marvel
how she wipes her kid’s nose with a hanky.

If you found that amazing,
watch her next incredible feat.
She will build you a grand fortress
using only clothespins and sheets.

But that is not all
that is up this Star’s sleeve.
See how she piles all three of her tikes
into her towering Ford SUV.

I don’t know about you,
but I don’t know if I’ve witnessed
such brilliance, perfection,
or absolute greatness.

It is hard to imagine
all of this talent could fit
into one little body.
But somehow, she’s done it.

Let's give her a hand.
Give her two. How about three?
Especially you little girls
who’ll find the Big Top to be

Your ever so thrilling,
inevitable destiny.
