Two Poems from our Valentines Day Poetry Collection

EXHALE

Author: Raymond Coker

Poem:
EXHALE

  Their laughs shaping the will
Soft and hot, almost stainless
Tribute to ancient Ideals

Some seeking perfection
Sculpting their Idealistic pursuit
On a timeworn marble

Push and pull, toss and turn
Wrinkled clothing clinging
To wet delicious bodies

The steel firmness
Hanging silky desires
Exhale and bend expressionlessly

THE RACE

Author: Adebayo Coker

Poem: THE RACE

They came sliding into view
With feet, mouths and noses enslaved
Churning-out war-like rhythm

Stirring from my reverie I smelt
Smelt company on the foggy marks
Yet could not see a thing

Goal-bound, they ploughed past
Igniting the Rocket in me
Tempts like pure honey

Energy mounts for explosion
Theirs wear from exhaustion
And to victory I motioned

Flashed back and realized
Like an ace marathoner
You took style, not speed, not force
