Two Poems from our Valentines Day Poetry Collection

MORNING ROSE

Author: Benjamin Kotey

Poem:
MORNING ROSE

I was once walking down a sunset day
When I saw a bird,
Sitting on a branch of a rose tree
And singing a song that was so appealing
To my ears
So I took my pen and paper
And begun to write the words of the song
It says,
"Come back sun,
Don't leave me here alone,
I have been sitting here for too long a time,
Waiting and watching your growing beauty
As the day unfolds like a morning rose,
The wind is turning cold
And the day is growing old
But my story still remains untold,
You know you are my only comforter
In times like this,
But I can't stop you from going home
Come tomorrow morning
And you will see me here, still waiting
Hoping you will return with my hope,"
Soon I saw myself in the world of the bird
Weeping and waving at you
As the sun closes her door,
Hoping you've heard my words.

NEW LOVE

Author: Johnson Musadaidzwa

Poem: NEW LOVE

you are my new day
my love, my new hope
your smile says it all
i wont ask for more
what else is love ?
is it like a dove?
a sign of peace.
then give me a piece
of your heart, i will keep.
why not a kiss
when beauty is your name
and it's all in your frame
your lips can tell
the old love tale
of the nite and the princess
sweety, you are sweetness
lets get it on to nigtht
as we wait to see the lighht
of the shining sun
we, the daughter and the son
of africa, the motherland
i love you
