Two Poems from our Valentines Day Poetry Collection

IF I HAD THE CHOICE...

Author: Rachel Nelson

Poem:
IF I HAD THE CHOICE...

I’d rather have a great desire and passion for you than run my fingers through another's delicate hair

I’d rather have the want of you, always wishing on the faintly glowing stars than have my neck kissed by another's soft lips

I’d rather have the thought of you than all the warm embraces of another love

I’d rather dream of you through my nights and days than have all the glories of the world in which you had no part

I’d rather be with no one than to claim the unknown comfort of any others hand or chest

I’d rather have the hope of you, I’d even rather grope for you than caress another's alien lips

ALONE I WOULD RATHER GO MY WAY THROUGHOUT ETERNITY

THROUGH THE STORM

Author: Kimberlee Laclair

Poem: THROUGH THE STORM

I feel my heart pumping now
As I sit and reminisce the way I feel.
And I don’t know how
To decipher if it’s feelings that are real.
And yes I know
That I love you like I never have before.
Can we go?
And open the doors we tried before.
It’s all clearer now
As I take the time to look you in the eyes.
You’re the sweetest sound,
The only one to hear my silent cries.
Now I see
Sometimes time apart can be so good.
And you and me
Are together just like we knew we should.
The streetlights can go out,
But I can see the light of your eyes
Your harmony resounds
As we drift away into the perfect night.
When you were here before
The stars didn’t shine quite like this.
Even through the storm
The rain didn’t fall as nice as this.
It’s you and I again
And we’re in love for real this time.
Even if we end up friends
I’ll still love you for the day you were mine.
